Profile
Fouotsa Emmanuel is a Professor of Cybersecurity, Cryptography and Artificial Intelligence at The University of Bamenda (Cameroon), where he directs the Centre for Cybersecurity and Mathematical Cryptology.
He holds a PhD in Mathematical Cryptology from the University of Rennes 1 (France, 2013) and worked as a Postdoctoral Research Engineer on the Simpatic project at the University of Caen (France, 2015–2016).
His research explores the arithmetic of algebraic curves and computational number theory, with applications to pairing-based, isogeny-based and lattice-based cryptography and to the security of cryptographic implementations. His results appear in venues such as AFRICACRYPT, WAIFI, Pairing, AAECC, Cryptologia and SN Computer Science.
Beyond research, he is committed to capacity building in Africa: he served as General Chair of AFRICACRYPT 2024 in Douala, coordinates the University of Bamenda cybersecurity project with ARES (Free University of Brussels), and contributes to several international mathematics and cryptology projects.
